Introduction
The Master's Degree in Security, Defense and Geostrategy is an official degree whose study plan is published in BOE number 141 of June 13, 2013. This prestigious degree combines all the knowledge and academic experience accumulated by UDIMA in collaboration with the Campus International for Security and Defense (CISDE), with the guarantee of quality of a degree with the rank of an official university master's degree. This program can be taken remotely from Spain or abroad, with face-to-face exams in various Spanish and foreign cities authorized by the University as official exam venues.
This master's degree in Research is designed to provide students with extensive knowledge related to military issues, national security, defense policy, modern defense theory, conflicts and international politics, intelligence services, terrorism and organized crime, the military industry, and the economy of defense, among others.
The teaching staff comprises some of the foremost international experts in these fields.
Addressed to
The Master's Degree in Security, Defense and Geostrategy is mainly aimed at Graduates or Graduates or Graduates (or equivalent to said qualifications) from the branch of Social and Legal Sciences (preferably with studies in Law, Criminology, Sociology, Psychology, or Social Sciences). policies, without prejudice to its extension to students with studies from other branches, as long as they accredit contents and competences related to the aforementioned fields). Likewise, this study plan is focused on Graduates or Graduates in Journalism, interested in specializing in Military Journalism or War Journalism.
It is also addressed to:
- Higher Scale of Civil Guard Officers (qualification equivalent to Bachelor, Architect or Engineer).
- Executive Scale of the National Police Corps, taking into account the following:
- Officials of the Executive Scale with the academic equivalence of a Master's Degree, for those officials coming from free opposition or internal promotion who access with a university diploma or degree, or university degree (in accordance with the Bologna Plan), who have completed the two years training at the Ávila School since 2006.
- Officials of the Executive Scale with the equivalence of a university degree, for those who have accessed the Executive Scale by internal promotion or free opposition with the title of diploma or university degree prior to the year 2006.
- Officials of the Executive Scale without any university academic degree because they do not meet the requirements to access the Scale with a diploma, university degree or university degree and who until September 2015 may continue to benefit from the validation of the Order of April 18, 2000, in the sense of obtaining the equivalence of a university degree if before this date they acquire the title of Diploma, Technical Engineer, Technical Architect, Graduate, Engineer or Architect.
- Career Military:
- Officers Scale: corresponds to first cycle university studies. On this scale, the first military employment is equivalent to the title of Diploma, Technical Engineer or Technical Architect, depending on the specialty chosen.
- Official Higher Scale: corresponds to first and second cycle university studies. In this degree, the first military employment is equivalent to a Bachelor's, Engineering or Architecture degree, depending on the specialty studied.

The objectives of the program are associated with the purpose of turning the student into an expert in issues related to Security, Defense and Geostrategy. The Program seeks to provide students with all the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to enable professional performance as a researcher, analyst, academic or scientist in the fields of defense, collective security, military history, intelligence, terrorism, industry, geopolitics or others. related fields.
The general objective can be broken down into a series of specific learning objectives:
- Master the key concepts related to defense, security, geostrategy and geopolitics.
- Learn about the origins and recent evolution of the main armed and political conflicts active in the world.
- Know the typology of armed conflicts and the influence of globalization on them.
- Analyze the typology of modern war threats in the international geo-strategic framework.
- Evaluate and weigh the influence of international terrorism and organized crime on the security of nations.
- Understand the concepts of National Defense and Defense Policy, as well as the competent institutions of its direction.
- Know the structure of the Spanish Armed Forces and the State Security Corps and Forces.
- Incorporate the concept of international security and learn about the competent international organizations to ensure it.
- Know the Armed Forces of the main foreign powers.
- Know the fundamental concepts of intelligence and counterintelligence.
- Know what the intelligence community is and know the national and foreign information and intelligence services.
- Know the main modern technologies related to the defense industry and its economic and social weight.
- Analyze the influence of Defense and the Economy from the social, technological and productive point of view.
- Learn about recent military history and the armed conflicts that have had a decisive influence on the evolution of our society.
- Learn research techniques in the area of security sciences.
- Satisfactorily pass the tests and criteria set by the professors of the program.
- Demonstrate research proficiency by preparing and presenting a Master's Final Project.
Teaching system
UDIMA training model is based on distance education, making intensive use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to facilitate the educational process.
UDIMA learning evaluation system contemplates carrying out and, where appropriate, overcoming different types of activities. The percentage weights established to evaluate the activities of each subject will be described in detail in the file of each module or subject contained in the teaching planning and will be established from the maximum and minimum established in the following table:
