Master (60 ECTS)
Academic Requirements:
- Completed degree from a public or officially recognised university/higher education institution in a relevant field.
- At least a “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent earned in your previous degree.
- Your undergraduate degree should be worth 240 ECTS credits.
Professional Experience:
For some 60-ECTS master programmes, you will need to have achieved one year of professional work experience before starting your studies.
English Level:
- Proof of English skills.
- If you do not meet the English skills requirements, we offer the free-of-charge IU English Language course. This is available to you if you meet the other admission requirements.
- If English is your native language or you graduated from an English-speaking school/university, you do not have to prove your English skills.
Master (120 ECTS)
Academic Requirements:

- At least a “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent earned in your previous degree.
- Your undergraduate degree should be worth 180 ECTS credits.

Overall English Requirements:
- IU English Language course certificate (complimentary when signing up with IU - free of charge)
- TOEFL (minimum 80 points) or
- IELTS (minimum Level 6.0 out of 9 points) or
- Duolingo English test (minimum 95 points) or
- Cambridge Certificate (minimum B grade overall) or

In addition to the general admissions requirements for master degrees:
- To study the 120 ECTS version of this degree, you will need to have taken courses “Statistics - Probability and Descriptive Statistics” and “Introduction to Computer Science” or demonstrate equivalent knowledge such as through work experience. You can take these courses online with us for free.
- To study the 60 ECTS version of this degree, you will need to have taken courses “Programming with Python”, “Advanced Mathematics”, “Statistics - Probability and Descriptive Statistics” and “Introduction to Computer Science” or demonstrate equivalent knowledge such as through work experience. Curriculum
What is the core content? In your Master’s degree in Data Science, you’ll primarily study current developments in software and infrastructure engineering, as well as Big Data technology. As you work through each of these individual topics, the key focus will be on practical problem-solving skills. The aim of this course is to prepare you to work as a specialist developing challenging data science applications and systems in both the private and public sectors.

Cambridge Assessment International Education / High School Diploma Study Pathway. IU is the first online university partner of Cambridge International's high school diploma pathway. By working with Cambridge, IU offers students a special chance to finish their high school diploma while studying for a bachelor's degree. Since they are required for your bachelor's degree, these high school diploma courses are free of charge. The Study Pathway is a unique 12 months course with a 150-hour workload which you take alongside your bachelor courses.
