He is an ambitious researcher with a focus on novel topics such as humanitarian operations management, sustainability, risk and innovation, co-creation, Ambi-supply networks, and performance measurement. He has authored a book, several book chapters, and over 100 refereed research papers. | Dr Martin Schleper Senior Lecturer in Operations Management – Co-lead on: Supply Chain Governance for Sustainability; Humanitarian and Ethical Supply Chain Management and Practice Infused Project For his academic work, Martin has received several awards, and in 2020, he won the Research Excellence Award for emerging scholars at the University of Sussex Business School. His research investigates sustainability and ethical issues with an overall focus on responsibilities in global supply chains. More specifically, his projects involve (sustainable) supply chain risk management, supplier exploitation, conflict minerals management, modern slavery, sustainability reporting and global sourcing. |
Dr Kamala Dawar Senior Lecturer in International Trade & Commercial Law – Co-lead on Supply chain Governance for Sustainability In addition to teaching, Kamala conducts research, policy analysis and technical assistance training for academic, inter-governmental organisations (including the WTO), the World Bank, the European Union, COMESA, CARICOM, ASEAN, as well as public interest organisations. She undertakes trade and Brexit-related research, policy analysis and capacity building for the UK Government, the European institutions and has appeared in national media. | Dr Sam Roscoe Senior Lecturer in Operations Management – Academic lead on Supply Chain Resilience in Modern Times Sam is the Sussex MBA course convenor and a fellow of the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO) at the University of Sussex Business School. His research interests are in how geopolitical disruptions (US-China TradeWar, Brexit, Covid-19) and innovative technologies (Additive Manufacturing, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence) are transforming global supply chains. His research on Covid 19 and the disruption caused to global supply chains has been featured in the Financial Times, the Guardian, Raconteur Magazine and the BBC evening news. |
Dr Malgorzata Sulimierska Senior Lecturer in Banking and FinTech – Academic lead on Supply Chain Finance Malgorzata (Gosia) has been recognised for her excellent teaching skills, winning several awards such Excellence in Teaching Award and Student-Led Teaching Award. Her passion for teaching and discovering new areas of development guides her interests towards fintech, banking digitalisation, financial literacy, financial inclusions and political uncertainty. | Dr Biao Yang Senior Lecturer in Operations Management – Academic lead on Supply Chain Analytics After four years working as an electronic engineer in the industry, Biao completed a PhD in manufacturing management (with a full scholarship) at Loughborough University. He was subsequently employed as a Research Associate at Cardiff Business School, working on the Integrating Transport and e-commerce in Logistics Supply Chains (ITeLS) project sponsored by the EPSRC and the Department for Transport. |
Dr Anthony Alexander Lecturer in Operations Management – Academic lead on Circular and Sustainable Supply Chains Anthony has 20+ years of experience working across a variety of different industries from communications to the urban and architectural engineering sector, before moving into academia and focusing on business cases for sustainability. His work now addresses different social and environmental challenges from a supply chain perspective, including carbon reduction, the circular economy, and deforestation. | Dr Aniekan Essien Lecturer in Information Systems – Academic lead on Supply Chain Digitisation Aniekan is an AI / Machine Learning researcher and Data Scientist with a passion for creating impact using technology. Having a researcher’s mindset, he is continually on the lookout for practical solutions to real-world problems. The goal of his research is the application of artificial intelligence/ machine learning models to realise organisation improvement. He has been involved in the development and application of deep learning models to urban traffic prediction, energy utility/consulting, and smart manufacturing process improvement. |
