Introduction
Our BS in Software Development may prepare you to design something great. Whether you’re interested in creating software, web-based development, or the gaming world – we’ve got you covered.
- Java Programming II may provide students with interactive advanced programming practices. Students could gain skills in writing complex software code that maximizes execution time and the storage space that the software program needs to properly execute and function.
- We cover a broad scope of security issues that are commonly found in software programs and may ready students to construct code that is succinct, highly functional, and secure.
- Gain insight into how to apply the skills you’re learning to real-world IT environments from professors working in the industry.
- Students may develop their coding skills and their ability to integrate viable software solutions by working across multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, HTML, CSS, XML, javascript, Visual Basic, SDL libraries, C#, SQL, MySQL, and other various software engineering applications.
- For students pursuing gaming, we provide instruction in Introduction to Game Programming and Mobile Application Development along with Internet Application Programming and Databases.
- For students interested in web-based software development, we offer instruction in Java Programming, Programming Concepts II, Web Design I, Organizational Applications of Social Media and Collaborative Technologies, e-Commerce, Mobile Application Development, and Internet Application Programming and Databases.
- Students have the opportunity to learn coding languages as part of their degree program, with no boot camp required. Hodges U provides courses in Java, Python, XML/Java (app development), C++, HTML, PHP, Visual Basic (VB), C#.
- Use the coding skills you’ve learned on projects such as creating an Android app, developing software programs using Java, or creating a foundational game incorporating sound files, tile maps, and rolling background to enhance the gamer’s overall experience.
- Learn how to balance your coding skills in conjunction with creating a positive overall user experience.
What Sets Hodges U Apart?
If you are looking to study computer-related degrees, you probably want to know why you should attend Hodges U. Our programs are uniquely designed to ready you to deliver results on complex, IT-related projects.
- Industry-related IT courses that are formulated to build essential knowledge as students proceed through their chosen degree pathways.
- Interactive learning is at the core of each of our IT courses. Hodges U takes active learning to a whole new level by providing simulation labs, virtual machines, and virtual networks for students to test their skills and knowledge before they are asked to perform in the workplace.
- Every student is introduced to the basics of programming using Java and learns to apply programming concepts to complete very basic software development tasks. Students get the opportunity to write simple programs that exemplify the cohesion of software functionality with network installations and security protocols.
- Project management is integrated into every IT degree program in order to promote the skills that will help students to manage multiple simultaneous IT projects found in today’s work environments.
- Students may take industry certification exams at Hodges U at a reduced student rate, either as a stand-alone certification or as part of their coursework. Upon graduation, students could also receive skill-specific certificates in addition to their degree diplomas.
- Each BS Information Technology Degree ends with the Systems Analysis & Solutions Architecture course. This course provides students the opportunity to showcase their understanding of how to transform business requirements through the entire systems development life cycle to produce a finalized plan for the implementation of an integrated information system within an organization, thus providing evidence that the student is ready to take on an IT job within their specified field.
Women in Technology
Paving the way for women in tech fields everywhere!
At the Fisher School of Technology, we believe that the inclusion of all individuals, including women and those from underrepresented populations in STEM, is critical for the continued growth and success of the IT field.
Look at it this way, technology corporations of the future are looking for new and innovative ideas that work for everyone. Without the input of technology-focused women in leadership roles, the development of products we use every day falls short of meeting the needs of the women who use them.
“What many people don’t understand is that computing is the foundation of just about every other Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) discipline,” said Lanham. At Hodges University, the Fisher School of Technology offers degrees that help students develop the skills needed to make a positive impact in the technology sectors of our business community.
It has been shown that girls do not pursue technology careers at the same rate as their male counterparts because they are not exposed to computer hardware, software, and coding at a young enough age to pursue computer information technology degrees. Instead of coming into the college environment with similar knowledge as their counterparts, women feel behind and end up abandoning what could be an excellent career pathway.
